The Government of Nepal established this farm on 2028 BS with the main objective of horticulture development in Humla district. Since its establishment, this farm, known as the Horticulture Farm, has been producing seedlings of temperate fruits, especially apples and walnuts, as well as providing technical services for the expansion of gardens at the local level. In the meantime, from FY 2049/50 to mid-Bhadra 2052/53, this farm was also privatized (leased). After the dissatisfaction and pressure of the local community, from FY 2052/53, the Department of Agriculture resumed its direct operation from Ashwin 1, but due to the inability to arrange manpower and budget, it was operated under the general supervision of the District Agricultural Development Office, Humla until mid-Ashadha 2053 BS.

FY 2052/53 In 2053/54, after the budget was made under the initiative of the Fruit Development Division, technical staff were transferred from various farms/centers to work until the staff were arranged. Since Chaitra 2058 BS, a total of 13 staff posts have been created and the work has been carried out. However, according to the new departmental structure implemented since Baisakh 2061 BS, 15 staff posts have been created and the name of this farm has remained the Potato Development Center. Currently, after federalization, 6 staff posts have been created according to the new provincial structure and since 2077 BS, the technical, financial and administrative work of this farm has been carried out under the name of Horticulture Development Center Darma Humla, under the Karnali Provincial Government, Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Directorate of Agricultural Development.
